Lindos is about 55 km from Rhodes airport, roughly an hour by road. The quickest options are a taxi from the rank outside arrivals, a pre-booked private transfer or a hire car. There is no direct bus: by public transport you change in Rhodes Town, which takes far longer.
Rhodes International Airport “Diagoras” (code RHO) sits on the west coast of the island, near the village of Paradisi. Lindos is on the opposite, east coast, about 55 km away, and the drive takes around an hour on a good road.
You have four realistic ways to make that journey: a taxi, a pre-booked private transfer, a hire car, or two buses via Rhodes Town. Here is how each one works, from a family that has been welcoming guests to Lindos since 1989.
How far is Rhodes airport from Lindos?
Around 55 km by road. Most of the route follows the main road down the east coast, past Faliraki, Kolymbia and Archangelos, before it turns off towards Lindos. Without traffic, allow an hour. In July and August, or if you stop for supplies on the way, allow a little more.
What is the quickest way from Rhodes airport to Lindos?
A taxi, a private transfer or your own hire car. All three take about the same time, roughly an hour door to door. The difference is in the planning and the price.
| Option | Time | Book ahead? | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi | About 1 hour | Not required | Flexibility, short stays |
| Private transfer | About 1 hour | Yes | Families, late arrivals, a fixed price |
| Hire car | About 1 hour | Recommended in summer | Exploring the island |
| Bus via Rhodes Town | Several hours | No | Tight budgets, light luggage |
How do taxis work at Rhodes airport?
The official taxi rank is directly in front of the arrivals hall. Greek taxis charge by a regulated meter, and a higher tariff applies late at night, so the fare to Lindos depends on the meter rather than a fixed price. The airport does not publish a fare list for Lindos, so ask the driver for an estimate before you set off. Tell them you are going to Lindos village, and if you are staying with us, mention the hotel name.
In peak summer, especially in August, the taxi queue can be long when several flights land together. If you are arriving at a busy time, a pre-booked car is less stressful.
Can you book a private transfer to Lindos?
Yes, and for many travellers it is the easiest option. A driver meets you in the arrivals hall, takes your luggage and drives you straight to your accommodation, at a price agreed in advance.
If you are staying at Lindos Comfy Suites, we can arrange this for you. Our airport transfer costs 60 euros one way from Rhodes International Airport, in a private car, as listed on our services page. Request it when you book, or at least 24 hours before you arrive, and let us know your flight details.
Is there a bus from Rhodes airport to Lindos?
Not directly. KTEL, the company that runs buses down the east coast, has no airport to Lindos line, so you need two buses.
- Airport to Rhodes Town. The city bus service, now run by the Municipality of Rhodes, links the airport with Rhodes Town. On weekdays its timetable from 26 October 2026 shows buses roughly every half an hour from early morning until after midnight. The airport’s website places the stop between the old and new terminal buildings.
- Rhodes Town to Lindos. KTEL buses to Lindos leave from the Mandraki stop in Rhodes Town. Greece’s official tourism site puts the journey at around an hour and forty minutes. In Lindos the bus stops at Krana, at the top of the village.
As of October 2026, KTEL’s official timetable listed 19 daily departures from Rhodes Town to Lindos between 06:15 and 21:30 for early October, with a one-way fare of 6 euros. In summer 2026 there were 21 departures a day, at 5.50 euros. Schedules change several times a year, so check the official KTEL Rhodes timetable and the municipal bus timetables for your travel dates.
Is the bus worth it? Only if you are travelling light, arriving early in the day and on a tight budget. With the transfer between buses and the waiting time, the trip takes several times longer than a taxi. In July and August the Lindos buses can also be full at busy times of day. Our guide to Rhodes without a car explains how the island’s buses work once you have arrived.
KTEL also runs a direct airport bus to Faliraki. In theory you could change there onto a Lindos bus, but the timetables are not designed to connect, so we do not recommend it with luggage.
Should you hire a car at Rhodes airport?
If you want to explore the island, yes. Six car-hire companies have desks in the arrivals hall, according to the airport’s official website. Rhodes is a large island, and a car makes it easy to reach beaches such as Tsambika, the wine villages and the far south.
Remember that Lindos village itself is pedestrianised. You park outside the village and walk in. If you are staying with us, our private parking is at the top of the property, off the Rhodes Town road, so you never need to drive into the lanes.
What if you land late at night?
Pre-book. The last KTEL buses to Lindos leave Rhodes Town in the evening, so a late arrival rules out public transport. Taxis serve the rank, but after a run of late flights the queue can be long, and the night tariff is higher. A transfer arranged in advance means a driver is waiting for you, whatever the time.
If you are staying with us, let us know your arrival time when you book.
What happens when you arrive in Lindos?
Because the village is car-free, taxis and transfers stop at the edge of Lindos. Most hotels are a short walk from the drop-off point, and some, like ours, have parking at the top of the property. Pack a bag with wheels that can cope with steps, or a soft holdall, as the lanes are cobbled.
Once you are here, you will not need wheels for a few days. The main square is a quiet five minutes’ walk downhill from our hotel, the Acropolis path starts just beyond it, and both of the village’s bays are within walking distance. Our advice
For most people, a pre-booked transfer or a hire car is the right choice. A transfer is perfect if you plan to relax in Lindos and take the odd boat trip. A car is better if you want to explore the whole island.
If you would like us to arrange your transfer, add it to your booking. See our suites or check your dates and book direct at comfysuitesrhodes.com, and add the airport transfer to your stay.
